Student Residence

Visa Status / Re-entry  / Period Extension

Residence Status Acquisition and Issuance
➀ The school will apply for the initial 1-year-3-month student residence status on behalf of the student upon their first arrival in Japan. Once approved, the 'Certificate of Eligibility' will be sent to the student for their visa application to enter Japan.

➁ Upon entry, the immigration officer will issue a residence card. Students who require permission for activities outside their visa status must inform the immigration officer at that time and have the 'Permission for Engaging in Activity Other Than That Permitted Under the Status of Residence' stamp placed on their residence card.を押してもらいます。

➂ After enrollment, students must bring their residence card to the ward office to complete their address registration and apply for National Health Insurance.

Re-entry
When a foreign resident in Japan departs the country, they must complete certain procedures if their residence status is valid for three months or less from the departure date or if they do not plan to return to Japan for more than a year. By obtaining a 'Re-entry Permit' in advance, they can re-enter Japan smoothly.
There are two types of re-entry permits:
Single: Valid for one-time re-entry.
Multiple: Allows multiple re-entries within the validity period.

Period Extension
◎The school will hold an explanation session on the renewal procedure three months before the residence status expiration date. It will review students' academic performance, attendance, conduct, and full payment of tuition fees. For students with no issues, the school will compile the necessary documents and submit the application to the Immigration Services Agency. A residence validity period of up to two months from the graduation date will be granted.
